Toted for a While

Here is "Sweetness".  You know that you have a keeper for your vest (in my case, on my leg) when your hunting partner names your favorite call.  I have toted "Sweetness" to woods every morning since the 1987 season.  It is my old friend by my side.   It was the second call that I made.  It now has a patina of blood, sweet, tears, and a good bit of mosquito dope.

A Limit for Millie

I had a hunter with a lot more experience than I had, buy a call last year. Opening weekend his wife killed 2 of the three turkeys that he called in. He had already ordered a second call for his wife for an anniversary present. I finished it a couple of weekends ago and he used it to call in her 3rd turkey of the season. This is the copy of the email that I got from him.

One more PM and I'll leave you alone.....Millie finished her season with a 2 year old yesterday morning....I used her Cutting call to call him up.....there are 2 pipelines that cross each other on the east side of our lease with a log road about 150 yds long that connect the pipelines before they cross...we had to walk 1/2 mile down a pipeline to get close(within 100 yds) to him where he was roosted on the edge of the 2nd pipeline directly across from where the road comes into it....it was close to flydown when we got set up....Mllie got set up so that the gobbler would be in range when he walked around a curve in the road...I was about 10 yds behind and to the left so I couldn't see the road....I gave him a couple clucks and a series of yelps which he liked and responded to with a double gobble......about three minutes later I cackled at him ....he and another turkey about 300 yds south of us gobbled back.....about 5 minutes later I saw Millie adjust her gun then she shot him at 25 yards....he weighed 17 lbs.....8 3/4" beard and 3/4" spurs.....we have had a good time using your calls this season....they have a very realistic sound but also a "new" sound which I think has helped us call up these turkeys this year....thanks again, Chip

Young Guns and Gobblers

I received this post this past weekend with success on one of my Gator calls that they received earlier this year.  Thought that I would share it with you.

This morning, Lee and I went together again. We got in there early and had a bird fire up a good ways off. We had seen 2 gobblers in this field a few days before so we set up there. We had some jakes come in and I was going back and forth with them on your box, and got the gobbler pretty fired up on the ground. The gobbler eventually started making his way to us and when he made it to the field, it turned out that it was 2 gobblers. They came right on in, and Lee shot the first one, and mine took a couple of steps and stopped and I shot him. It was a great hunt.

I just want to thank you for the call. It sounds great and you can really get birds' attention with it. I hope your season is going well.
